We offer niagara piano lessons in-person and online for individuals and groups of just about every age and skill level. Do you feel like the need to start learning to play on the piano or keyboard. Our instructor Sergey Krutik can provide you with valuable knowledge through piano lessons that you can’t get on our own!

Niagara Piano Groups

Kids

Program designed for children and youth ages 4-12 to explore the world of music and give an introduction to music. This course is also for those who want to have lessons for fun .

Teens

Designed for intermediate and advanced students who already have an understanding of music concepts and are already able to play piano. This program teaches students more advanced piano techniques.

Adults

Designed for Adults who wish to practice piano for the enjoyment of playing. Even if you have not played piano before you are welcome to join us for piano lessons.

Online Lessons

This program is designed for any age and level. This program is for students who are interested in the online piano lesson format.

About Sergey Krutik

The Niagara Piano Lessons Studio is operated by professional piano instructor Sergey Krutik. He has over thirty years of of teaching and performing experience. Sergey was born in Kiev, Ukraine.  He started playing piano at the age of 6. At the age of 7, he was accepted into the children’s musical school for piano and successfully graduated at the age of 14 with an Honors Diploma. In 1982, he attended the Musical Academy of “Gliere” in Kiev, Ukraine for the Faculty of Jazz Performance. In 1985, he graduated from the faculty with an Honors Diploma.

Sergey worked a lot in various musical bands that were recognized and nominated for the top prizes, and he has participated in numerous musical festivals. Specifically, Sergey and the musical group “Karchaginzy” or art-rock group “Zimniy sad/Winter Garden” took the third-place prize in the Ukrainian Music Festival “Chervona Ruta” in 1989.

Before going freelance, he spent over thirty years playing with a variety of professional bands. Sergey moved to Canada in 2003 and since then has worked with many artists such as; Papa Duke, saxophonist/flutist Igor Babich, music producer Dima Graziani, The Wave Pool Fusion Project, Duo Pizzicato Piano and Flute Duet and in the Grove Presidents Band with guitarist Alex Severinets.

In 2010 Sergey founded his Piano Lessons Studio, which is successfully run till this day. In addition, he worked as a Piano accompanist at the Sean Boutilier Academy of Dance and the Canadian Dance Company.

He currently works as a piano instructor at the 88 Keys Discovery Centre and the Fort Erie School of Music and as a piano accompanist at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, in addition to his private teaching.

Q: What is the recommended equipment for online piano lessons?

A:

  • A functioning computer
  • A good internet connection
  • A videoconferencing software

Q: How old does one have to be to start learning to play the piano?

A: Preferably six years old and older. However, there is no set age.

Q: How long does it take to learn to play on the piano?

A: It depends on the level or ability each student learns at and how much one practices for. It takes about 2 – 6 months to learn the basics.

Q: What can one learn in your lessons?

A: First of all are fundamentals: scales, scale patterns, arpeggios and technical skills. Each week students prepare piano technique studies and pieces they wish to play. Sergey demonstrates how to play and students have a chance to follow him.

Q: What about students who simply want to learn for fun?

A: Most of our students take lessons because they are having fun.

Q: Am I too old to start learning to play on the piano?

A: You are never too old. In fact, many of my adult students are 50 plus. All you need is to want to learn. My oldest student now is 60 years old.

Q: What is the accepted method of the payment?

A: The accepted payment methods are: Interac e-Transfer, Cheque or Cash.

Q: Do I lose any lesson if I am not able to attend?

A: We allow the lesson cancellation with a 24 hour notice. We will be able to arrange a lesson at a time that is more comfortable for you.

Q: How much is the lesson?

A:

$30  for a 30 Minute Lesson ($40 for In-Home Piano Lessons)

$40  for a 45 Minute Lesson ($50 for In-Home Piano Lessons)

$50  for a 60 Minute Lesson ($60 for In-Home Piano Lessons)
